Header on 5g Lude??
How much hp gain can you get from an aftermarket exhaust manifold on a 5g lude? Ive always heard that the gain is minimal, is this correct. Right now I have AEM intake and DC exhaust. Im thinking about getting the stainless DC header, does anyone have a dyno for this?
Gains from an aftermarket header are so small that I agree that you would be wiser doing some other project. If you are so inclined and have a 99-01 I will suggest taking the stock header and having it coated. While ti is off you can get the ports cleaned up and matched to the head. It won't give you more than 1-2HP, but it will look great for a long time.
The header does make a difference on a 5th gen. But the general consensus is that the DC Sports header gives negligable gains on a 5th gen Prelude. However, there are headers that make power on the 5th gen...
I've seen dynos of a Prelude TypeSH with Iceman intake, DC Sports header, and Mugen Cat-back. The owner then switched the DC header to the Mugen header and gained 5whp more than the DC Sports part over a broad range...
My car gained 12whp peak and significant power over a broard range on the dyno with just a removed intake resonator, Mugen header, and Mugen cat-back.

I got to agree with you on that one Andrew. Good heads does make a differance!!! But Mugen and custom made headers are $500-$1000. Mugen are great headers, but i think they just cost a little too much for the money, But they do work great.
I take it then from these posts, that the stock 5th Gen header is better than the stock 4th Gen?
Does that mean there are gains to be had if I were to change my stock 4th gen header to a stock 5th gen?

The 5th gen header does not fit a 4th gen. The collector lengths are different. If you have a 4th gen, you are better off getting an aftermarket header. It will be cheaper, and you'll make more power anyway. I've been told that the Greddy header for a 4th gen VTEC is the best for power gains at a decent price.

I'd just stick with the stock header. Save your money, cause you're not going to get much more gain from it. If you look, the piping is pretty much the same size

Contacted Hotshot a while back. Gave me an option between 2 or 3 (damn) inch collector for a custom piece. Nice..then I thought..clearance problems (H22 on EG). Decent price too - $450.
But after contacting Jeff (from Import Builders), he quoted me a price for THE H22 engine package complete with custom header (SMS I assume), CM clutch & Hondata!!! He's got my money.
