Hard time getting into first gear??!??! Why?!?!?
I recently had a leak in my hydraulic fluid and killed my master cylinder, well I got a new master cylinder and leak fixed. Now I have a hard time getting into 1st gear, I'm 90% sure this started happening after the leak. My neighbor who did the work said its my clutch going bad, but it holds power up top,at high rpms when shifting. If I physically put the shifter in 2nd then go into 1st it goes fine, but from nuetral straight into 1st, i gotta put some force into it. I've heard it could be a bent shift fork or my clutch really is going bad or the pedal needs adjustment...anyone have this problem??? But if the pedal just needed adjustment, my neighbor woulda done that...he owns a legit shop in town and is certified out the ***. I got a turbo kit on the way so I'm gonna go ahead and buy a new clutch anyway but don't want any more problems.
Ohh and its a 2000 h22a4 and tranny

I had the same problem, my clutch fluid was empty
then once I filled it I still had air in the line
but that doesn't sound like your problem, I was having trouble getting into any gear.

when you are trying to shift to first..
are you rolling or stopped??
When you are stating that, going from neutral to 1rst it doesn't work.
But 2nd to 1rst works..
it sounds like a synchro??
Anyone else know a lil more bout trannies?

from a stop trying to get into first...hell from a roll its impossible now, before I could work it into 1st from like a 20mph roll but now its impossible. I doubt its the synchros...its not making any grinding noise or feel.
Hondas don't like going into 1st from neutral. I wouldn't worry about it until you actually can't get it into 1st at all.

N--->1rst has always been a lil difficult in my car.
Majority of the time it won't go in w/out revmatching.
I occasionaly have the same problem, but after I clutch out and in again, it goes into 1st fine. Also, I don't know if it'll help but try this; try pushing it into 1st, start letting of the clutch very slowly while still applying pressure to the lever in 1st gear. At a certain point it should go in, if not, or if you let off too fast, the gear will scratch.

but the thing is before all this I could get it into 1st from a 20mph roll from nuetral without even rev matching....now I have to force it into 1st from nuetral even at a stop. Something isn't right.
It is your clutch. Either the last time the clutch was replaced, the wrong lube was put in (i.e. rear end grease) as some shops do to cut costs, or you are about to experience a spring pop out of place and leave your clutch engaged at all times. I would have the clutch replaced as soon as possible so you dont ruin your flywheel at the same time unless you feel like upgrading the flywheel now too. either way, it is definitely your clutch. throw in a new one and you will be shifting like it was brand new.
mine does it too. Sometimes i sit a few seconds into a light trying (rarely but at times). I found if I pull it into nuetral, let the clutch out, and then try again it helps. That or throwing it into 2nd
Yeah i am having the same problem too! When i am in neutral at a light and i try to stick it in first gear, it sometimes doesnt go in gear. So i have to let out the clutch and try it again. But does this mean that i need a new clutch? Just wondering becuase my warranty is up in 500 more miles, so if it is the clutch then i would like to get that fixed before the warranty is up! If anyone can contribute, it would be greatly appreciated!
I had a similar problem me and my dad replaced the clutch and it still is doing it, i think a syncro is going bad but thats my opinion, but i can tell you something that helped me like leaps and bounds.
I but that redline tranny fluid in, i think is was mlt 40 or something like that, that is the best stuff, my car performed way better. but its just prolonging my bad gearbox, I need a new one.

has anyone ever tried GM fluid. My friend's 3rd synchro on his svt contour is shot, but after he put that stuff in he said th grinding stopped, although it was still hard to get it into gear
