Default H23 Bore Help!

Im about to purchase this benson sleeved H23A3 block tha has damage in cylinder#3, so it needs to be bored out. It currently it is at 88mm, Im posting a pic for anyone to tell me if the damage (in the pic Below) is to bad to be bored out. It looks as if the top of the wall was chipped... Its kind of hard to see in the pic, but take a look.

The depth of the damage is hard to see but it looks pretty bad. I would take it to a machine shop and see how much of a bore would be needed and then check it against the manufacturer's recommendations.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The max bore is about 91mm but thats pushing it because i'm boosting... so that would like basiclly leave no room for error.. I was hoping that it only need to be bored out to about 90mm, but I dont know... a machine shop hasn't seen it yet.

Oh, well then, same advice as before...haha But seriously get them checked. Better to find now if they are okay to use rather than to find out by a piston popping through the sleeve, again.

Either ask him to have it checked or ask him to take
Money off so you can replace the one but possibly 2 sleeves.

Can Darton MID sleeves be replaced individually?

worst case scenario you have to go up to 90mm. I don't believe anybody on here can give you a definitive answer just based on the pictures you provided but it would be helpful if you could hold a feeler gauge or some small object to gauge the size/depth of the damage on those cylinders

So the guy took it to a machine shop, and they said that it needed to be bored .040 over which would be 90mm. The guy is only selling it to me for $400 and the machine shop is only charing $85 for a bore.

How reliable would a 90mm bore be for boost... my goal is +- 15psi around 450whp daily driver. (and will be fully built of course)

Boring 4 cylinders for $85, that's a deal. Get good rods and pistons and have the bottom end rebalanced. You should be good to go.
