Default H22a question

The guy who owned my car before me did the swap. its an H22a and im trying to find out which one it would be. i did some searching and really couldnt find what i was looking for but i did run across this:
H22A Honda Prelude SiR (JDM) 1997-2001
H22A Honda Prelude 1999-2001
H22A Honda Prelude Type S (JDM) 1997-2001

My motor does have a black top. The guy i bought it from said that it was jdm. here is a pic of the motor if this helps.

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Look at the stamp on the block, it's located near the transmission bar code, right below the hose that runs from your block to the radiator. It's going to be H22A, H22A1 or H22A4. If it says H22A, with no number after the "A" then it's a JDM motor, if it reads H22A1 then it's a USDM 92-96 motor, and the H22A4 comes from the USDM 97-2001 Preludes. The advantage of the JDM motors is the small bump in compression, JDM H22A has 10.6:1 compression while all USDM H22A's have 10.0:1 compression. Hope this helps.

different cams, higher compression.

it may also be a h22a from 94-97 sir-t accord.

you could take off the intake manifold and check the intake runners on the head to see if they've been machined a little. if so, possible TypeS/SiR S-spec. but where's the red valve cover?

oh yeah, and check your trans code.

the standard JDM motor has the black vavle cover. it's not a bad motor. 200 flywheel HP on standard 10.6:1 compression.

how does it run? and is it running the JDM ECU?
