Default getting a 01 lude

I turned 18 in December and have been driving a pos Ford for the past year and I im in the market for a honda prelude. I found one which is a 2001 Honda Prelude that I love and called up my insurance company. They told me it was 3500 to insure the lude (on my parents policy). Is there any other way to get it cheaper? Know this isnt the place to ask, but I know im still young and it will cost a lot of me now.

i bought my prelude when i was 18 with no accidents, tickets, etc... and i paid like $1800/year through AAA. now i'm 21, still no accidents or tickets (not on record at least) and i pay $1500/year. and these payments are also on my parent's insurance policy. so basically you'regetting screwed for insurance. maybe you should check out other insurace companies for qoutes. insurance also depends on where you live and how many miles you drive a day, and remember you can usually get good student discounts and stuff like that. call your company and ask what you can do to lower your payments.

Holy crap that's alot to insure! I have a 97 and im 28 and I pay $1380.00 a year...and that's Canadian dollars. It could be that high due to your parents record if they have been in accidents but it still seems real high.

So far I have been looking around at insurance companies to see how much it will be to insure myself and the rates have been much higher then the 3500 that my insurance agent quotes me on (Liberty Mutual). Any input would on the road to a good insurance company would be good. Have checked out all the ones you guys suggested and they been more then 3500 a year. Also my policy states I have 100000/300000/100000 policy, so I am guessing if I lower it down to the minimum, it would be a lot lower. Also I have no tickets or accidents on my record.

Never settle with one insurance company, ALWAYS get quotes from many of them... I have a 97 lude with a "speed racing" ticket and pay $1390 / year for full insurance. Some major insurance companies to get quotes from:

Allstate
State Farm
Safeco
Farmers Insurance
Geico
esurance.com
Progressive
AIG Auto
AmFam
UnitrinDirect

Always price them all out and pick the best one
