gauge cluster install

so i sold my jdm cluster to a buddy and he says i dont fit and i was like woha???!
he said somthing about the bolts not lining up???
so does he need to take the casing off his stock cluster and put that on the jdm on to fit???
does any one have experence with this?
i always thiught it was a direct fit

Ya I tried it, it doesnt fit period. Nothing lines up at all, you cant even remove the guts its entirely different on the JDM cluster. I even bought a USDM plastic cover (because the face slops a different way) and tried to fit it on the JDM one, no go. Basically the JDM cluster is useless, not to mention the gray box wires are too short to stick it anywhere.
