Fuel pump question

We bought the 2000 Prelude used, with a JRSC already installed. When the car is turned on, you can hear the fuel pump. It has a very distinctive high pitch whine from the pump. I haven't been in another Prelude, and my question is:

Does the stock fuel pump on a Prelude sound different from other Hondas? The previous owner had done alot of work to the car, cf hood, lowered, msd ignition, etc. I thinking maybe the fuel pump was also changed out when the JRSC was installed. Does a Walbro pump sound different from a stock pump?

Sounds like a stupid question, I know, but would rather not have to take a look at the pump if someone can answer. Just in case, flame suit is on.

Re: Fuel pump question
I can't hear my stock fuel pump when the car is running; only a slight whine when it primes on ignition. I don't have personal experience w/ aftermarket fuel pumps, but it definitely sounds likely if they added a JRSC.

Re: Fuel pump question
The JRSC kit came with a 'JR' fuel pump. I ran it for a while, then switched to a walbro when the JR was suspect of some fuel problems (wasn't the problem) and they sound the same. Turning the key while in my garage the pump is very noticeable and you can hear it to a lesser degree out in the open. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Re: Fuel pump question
The reason I ask is that we are going to Hondata s300, with RC 550 injectors. We want to make sure that the fuel pump is up to the task without the JR fpr.

Re: Fuel pump question
IMO, for $80-85 I would just grab a walbro and be sure. However the JR pump could be a re-badged walbro for all I know. The peace of mind would be worth the cost of the new pump to me.
