Re: F22A (AnthonyG2003)
the same hybrid action that you see with the f22b's is possible with the f22a's. The most popular being the h22 or h23 head swap then boost.

you know, thats what ***** me about this site, people ask a reasonable question and ******** like you answer them, no wonder the world thinks Americans are dumb, you and people like you prove it everytime you troll a forum, respond to a question. Everytime you get a thought, let it go. You will be one step closer to being normal then!
</rant>

And to answer your question KTOTHE, Most people are boosting the **** out of F22A's and doing the headswaps, nice that the blocks are cheap in the States, they still go for a good price here in Australia. I recently killed my F22A due to lack of oil pressure, and to replace the block and head with a stock F22A was as expensive/cheap as a H22A, go figure!

Yeah, no kidding. This site used to be really good. Now there are a lot of new losers.

Anyway, an H23 head on an F22A bottomend is a good idea. H23 head on an F23 bottomend is an even better idea. G23 hybrid.

Re: F22A (AndyD)
See that's the thing.......I have the stock F22A1 engine in my lude with 183,000 miles on it. I do like the idea that I could put a DOHC head on it, and boost it higher than I could an H22, but I just want VTEC so bad.

Realistically speaking, what is the best way to go?

A. Keep the F22 block, put a H23 head on it, and then go the forced induction route, or...
B. Swap a nice VTEC JDM H22 with low miles into the car, and maybe boost it later.

Thanks for all the info guys. I figured the same thing could be done with with the A, but everyone ive seen do it has done it with the B.

To be fair, i did rephrase my question after Anthonys post, although his response was assholish (yes i just made that up) at best.

Re: (ktothe)
it was assholeish, ill give you that. But to clear up confusion I think you should refer to the block as an "fseries" block, as opposed to an "Aseries" block, as many of the honda block end in A (b16a, h22a, f20a).

But as far as your ??? goes: as everyones said, hseries head bolt on, and they're great. The f22's have iron sleeves, which makes it perfect for boost. GET SOME!!!

Re: F22A (H0ndaJunkie)
If you are not going to spend the money to do it right then buy the lower milage H22 and call it a day. It will last you longer than a Hybrid with that 180K mile block.

I was thinking the same thing. The last time I had the head off the F22, the cylinder walls looked great, and my compression is fine.......but you're right, the block and everything in it has a whole lot of miles on it!

Thanks guys! VTEC H22 here I come!

Re: F22A (H0ndaJunkie)
no no no, keep the F22A1, but go the DSM route....

the turbo DSM (eclipse, talon, laser) header bolts up to the F22A1 head, just need to drill one bolt hole I believe. So get the header, turbo and oil lines, and custom pipe your intake, and you can get a 200+hp car for a fraction of swapping an h22 in.

Re: F22A (n8dogg)
this is going to sound stupid but a F22a1 is a single cam found in preludes and accords right? i honestly didnt know you could put a dohc h22 head on it? is this actually worth doing or is it cheaper to buy a new motor and tranny?
