Emissions fail
Well, this thread isnt exactly what you think but the title would be better off search friendly. I have some astonishing results and understand I will get flamed to hell and back for them, but nonetheless I am going to post them.
Emissions plagues us all in metro areas(ok, most of us)... Yesterday I went and got mine done here. I havent had a legal tag in 4 months because I just decided it was time for the car to sit while I got other stuff taken care of.
First results:
Test reading allowable
25/25 test
HC 105 132
CO .46 .73
NO 435 945
RPM 2883 1.5k-3k
CO+CO2 18.6 6.0min
50/15 test
HC 98 136
CO .24 .76
NO 750 1045
RPM 1776 1.5k-3k
CO+CO2 18.2 ---
Now, I took my car back today after yesterdays results so I could go ahead and get my emissions done for next year.. Sadly, you can do that here but no one does.
Last night after talking to the emissions redneck I decided to try an experiment he had said works. I pulled my valve cover, loosened my tensioner and retarded the intake cam 1 tooth. then set it all back tight. Doing this results in a much longer overlap. Yes, I lost all low end torque. It felt sluggish till abuot 4.5k.. Not good for daily driving.
2nd day results:
Test reading allowable
25/25 test
HC 58 132
CO .07 .73
NO 107 945
RPM 2758 1.5k-3k
CO+CO2 14.2 6.0min
50/15 test
HC 58 136
CO .06 .76
NO 417 1045
RPM 1732 1.5k-3k
CO+CO2 14.2 ---
