Default ebay intake and filter

installed ebay cold air intake. when i bought it i was planing to put K&N filter on it but i'm runing its own ebay filter so far. I've read a lot about intakes here and know that K&N filter on ebay intake works pretty well. i want to know, is ebay filter so bad that it could harm my high end power compared to stock setup? cuz it feels like so, i didnt beat the car i used to beat. thanks

hey I've never seen someone from Tbilisi.
the ebay intake will not flow as well as the K&N, but it should be less restricting than stock. however, the filter may be bad quality and break down quickly, or fail to filter. if it feels more sluggish than the stock setup, the filter could be to blame

i dont think that will make that big of an effect. maybe you didnt beat him b/c driver error? my ebay intake with ebay filter dosent seem like its robbing me of power compared to stock intake.

I wouldn't worry too much about the restriction of air flow. Anything that replaces the stock filter (on a 5th gen at least) is a big improvement.

There is a big review with pictures on the web (can't find it right now) which compares a few major CAI filters, it showed that the Apexi filtered the most particles out (by a lot). This keeps your engine free from harmful particles which cause wear on the components.

i have a 4th gen JDM right hand drive. when i had stock intake i used to take the filter off before the race and race withought it. nothing gonna fly in there, stock intake sucks air from the space between engine bay and fender. I raced a chipped B16 CRX with both filter on and off. removing the filter gave me 1.5 car of advantage

For those of us who don't race in a vacuum, I would keep the filter on. Gravel *does* go into the engine bay occasionally, It would suck if your intake ate it

Has another car in the race never went off the paved surface in front of you and sprayed you with gravel/grass/body kit parts/random junk?

I've seen race turbo setups with just a piece of fine steel mesh hose clamped over the intake side of the turbo as a filter. Not recommended for daily driver use.
