best header for 5 gen??
If you have a 5th gen EARLIER than 99 then you can go with either the Mugen or DC Sports. If you want a DC, call Ultra Performance in Tucson. Mugen, I would contact James Chan at http://www.performance-evolution.com
Why the first line-the gains from an anftermarket header for our cars 99-up is minimal comapred. They were redesigned for the later years at the factory.

I would go with DC sports header, but that's just me.
Mugen caust too much and I have yet to see a single dyno were the mugen and the DC sprots are compaired on the same car. Both give about the same gains from looking at stock Vs header_X plots, however.

That's the one and only DC header VS Mugen header plot that I've ever seen...

Cool, I would love to see that plot also! Anyone have it?? Also the mugen is a 4-1 header wich normally will give U better gains at the top end, but not as good gains as a 4-2-1 header in the lower/mid range RPMs. DC sport make a 4-2-1 header so the DC might be better for some aplications (ie autocross) even if the mugen header give a higher top end HP number. For drag racing a 4-1 is prob. better, however.

The Mugen H22A header is 4-2-1 design.
The only company that makes a 4-1 for the Prelude is Hotshot, and the dynos of the Hotshot header I've seen show it to make less power than the stock exhaust manifold.
SMSP also tried a 4-1 prototype design on Cory's race Prelude. However, their 4-2-1 design yielded a better overall power band.

Here is a link to the old Prelude.vtec.net site - hasn't been updated in a couple of years, but most of the old info is still there... http://prelude.vtec.net/gen5/

Ooops, I though the mugen was a 4-1 header...
Great, now I don't know what header to get
Wich one is lighter in weight then??
Sounds to me like mugen is the better header, but just by how much (2hp, 5hp...)? and is it worth the extra $400. I wana see that plot

where is this dyno of the hotshot you've seen that is so bad ... those that i've talked to say it's the best thing they used and had, and one of them is "NEWMAN" running 11's ... so please do explain more...
The infamous Nam D. Vo had a 1998 TypeSH back in the early days of VTEC.net. He had an Iceman intake, DC sports header, and Mugen catback. He dynoed all of his mods as he did them to see the gains on almost each part. He then switched from the DC sports header to the Mugen header. The Mugen header showed gains of 3-5HP all the way across the board over the DC sports header. If anyone has this old plot (circa early 1999), please post it.
