ARP Head Studs Question

I am currently installing ARP head studs and have ran into an issue. After retapping the holes, I noticed that the rear middle is sitting down about a quarter of an inch lower than the others. The other studs sit about 4.25 inches out of the holes while the middle sits about 4 inches out. Is this normal or is something wrong?
Another question, do I have to use the ARP assembly lube on the studs or would another brand be alright? I have a few tubes of other lubes sitting around and just figured why not?

That middle stud threw me for a loop for a little while too, but it's supposed to be like that I'm pretty sure as mine was the same way and I haven't had any problems. What kinds of lube do you have? ARP gives the torque specs based on their lubes, so the torque values will probably be different with a different lube. Some auto parts stores carry ARP (I know Baxster auto parts over here has the lube in stock).

We only have the usually auto-stores around me...AutoZone, Advanced, and there is a NAPA somewhere. I will have to check to see if by chance they have the ARP lube. What I have been using is Sta-Lube Engine Assembly Lube with moly graphite. I did not see a torque specs for other lubes, could you link it? Then I can check around for approved brands.
I would only use arp lube... for example on my head studs for my h22a I was told By ARP 105ft lbs of torque, while another NAPA brand lube told me 92 Ft lbs of torque.... I would just pay a few extra pennys and get the ARP it comes with there bolts for a reason lol
I know when I got my block back form the machine shop there was a TON of metal and debris in the holes. Make sure you run a thread chaser through multiple times and blow out the holes. I was having that problem with a few of the stud holes. I was thinking all of mine went in the same distance but maybe Im wrong.. I took an old head bolt and made a thread chaser with it.
