My boy had to sell his 00 civic Si cause his finances took a ****. He now has a 89 Lude Si. Has anyone ever fixed one of these up. Is their any possible swaps. I know the stock B20 is nothing like the CRV. Any websites or ideas for a good build up would be glady appreciated.

 

You can swap in an H22.

There's also the JDM B20, but that's not a huge upgrade.

 

your options are pretty limited on a 3rd gen unfortunatly. i have a 91 2.0 si myself and have been looking into doing an engine swap. like ludeykrus said, your only real options are a jdm b20a which from what i've read makes slightly better power and doesnt burn oil or a h22/f22 which can be a pretty costly swap.

also, he should have a b21 in the si i believe.

 

88-89 Si = 2.0L
90-91 Si = 2.1L

There isn't much he can do with the car... may as well enjoy it.

basic upgrades that can make the car more fun:
-headers
-cam gears
-16" rims with good tires.
-s-afc (stock engine leans out dropping power at high rpms)

other than that you are looking at major work (either turbo or H22), which will completely change the car and be very expensive.
