Alright I got a 99 type sh with a jdm h22a. The car usually runs amazing but at random times it will start to idle really rough at a stop, bog down when I start moving and smells terrible. Someone before me tried to change the gauge cluster faces and messed up the entire cluster so my cel light does not work. I know it is probably throwing a cel because its in limp mode with no vtec. It only does this at very random times and I have not seen any pattern when it happens, Its just so random. When its not acting like this it runs great. Any input or suggestions would be great. Well first off you need to get your cluster fixed so you can see what codes you are throwing, and secondly you know it is going to be down to a sensor or sensors depending on codes. We can't give you any input without any codes to go off of, I mean we could suggest all these things to look at and replace but that is just pure non-sense and a waste of money.

 

bring it to autozone or advance auto parts and have them scan it for codes. its free, and is necessary in order to determine what the problem is. there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of different things that could be wrong. but you need to know what the codes are in order to diagnose it.

 

I second this great idea of motoxxxman just get the codes, then post them up on this thread so we can further assist you on your issues.

 

Yep they got the nice obd2 code scanner. You can buy a cheap one but cant do the same a high end one like theirs or a mechanic can
