Default 99 prelude

What in the world should be the first things I do to build this car?
Turbo? Clutch? Tires, wheels? Intake? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Decide what it is you are wanting out of your car. If you want it to look good, drop it and get rims. You'll have to do tires at some point, so you might as well start saving for those. If you're not upgrading the motor, there's no need to do the clutch yet. Off-the-shelf intakes are mostly for looks. Low-boost turbo is not a bad option for decent power gains, but you'll spend as much as you bought the car for.

If you boost that engine without liners and forged Pistons, it'll blow right up.

The Prelude is not made for building the engine... Now an S2000....

Do all the stuff that looks good, and makes you happy. If the engine burns oil, a lot of oil, have the cylinders honed and install the OEM oversized pistons.

You can boost a h series to about 300whp with stock rods, closer to 400whp on FRM+forged rods. Oem pistons should be good for close to 500whp, which Id only try for in a fwd Fseries unless the H is sleeved.

Of course money, and knowledge of what supporting mods you need comes into play, doesnt mean it cant be done. Do it wrong and you dont need lots of hp for it to go boom.

Id put new rings and set the gap to the looser side of specs for boost or n20. Same for bearings, go oem so you can select exact size. Get oem rod bearings that are on the looser side within specs too.

If it burns oil, maybe put new rings in, dont hone unless you have too... Most of the time you dont, but if so usually its easy to get a new block then hone, it needs a special process. Or needs a valve adjustment.
