It probably is a lot of wiring but it looks like he has everything.

these navigation screens and dvd players on other acuras usually go for up over $1000.
And usually dont have everything.

If this is truely everything I would pick it up in a sec if i had a fifth gen.

But yes it is probably a lot of work and your dash will need to be pulled out. and some things like the electric mixer control will have to be modified.

you put a new cd in for newer maps.

The climate control is digital and incorporated into the navigation.

Its basically you have to do the digital install like the jdm digital plus install the navi.

I have the standard JDM 5th gen nav system in my Type S.

it's a CD based system - was there any USDM honda's of the same era that have a satnav system based on a cd-rom which you could use?
There's certainly nothing over here in the uk. Only later dvd based systems.

So.. it's basically a JDM nav system which is useless outside of Japan (and a very slow and tedious one at that!)

The climate control cannot be controlled from the touchscreen - it's in a different position where the clock is in most 5th gen 'ludes.

However, manual A/C (note: not heater) can be controlled from there (altho I have no idea how you would wire that in.. ). I have never had any use for the manual a/c when there's climate control.

I found it useless as I couldnt even use the (NTSC) TV over here as channels are broadcasted in PAL.

I plan to install a car-pc touchscreen in it's place

The early acuras probably use the same system. but i wonder if you can use one of those cds for the 5th gen.

THis guy has all of the a/c controls and such.

true, it does actually look like the guy is supplying everything that you will need.

a few pics of the unit in operation if anyone's interested:

this pic shows the whole unit installed and with the climate control in place (it's huge so i've linked it):

my friend did this conversion a long time ago...he ended up spending over 1500 dollars for the nav system. And it wouldnt even uplink with the current GPS satellites. So pretty much he got owned, he also some how miss wired his climate control so it would only go on when the headlights were on (no idea).
Just get a pioneer indash 7".

Thats sounds a lot less complicated . Im pretty sure they make a digital climate control that replaces our current sliders. That would be the one I would get.

Like this one...

yeah but he wasn't looking for the climate control. he was asking about the navi.

And I bet the digital climate control is just as hard to install as the navi/climate control

for the price of that navi, you could get a pioneer indash 7" and a turbo kit.

Cool, but I would not try it unless it was for a show car or something. I would much rather spend money on a new Pioneer.

IIRC The Acura CD's DO NOT work with the JDM Nav Unit for the Lude.

This is just speculation from reading threads over at PO.com

Take it for what its worth, but get off your JDM Fanboy hype, buy a Pioneer, Alpine or Eclipse double din with Navi and call it a day. All of them are touchsreen and bluetooth now, so they IMHO Are better than your JDM unit
