I like the idea as well. I was thinking of doing the exact same thing. I would be fine with topping out at 105. I would not be looking to for the lowest possible time in th 1/4 mile or I would tub it and build a drag car. I just want to improve the 4.266 stock final drive. I was going with the 4.7 but if there is a group buy for the 5.2, why not.

What would be the point? Why go with a higher FD if you would just lower it with and accord 5th gear?</TD></TR></TABLE>

so when your in the street you can take advantage and on the highway racing bmw's you need atleast 145 mph top speed to keep up.

also it would allow you to run 18 inch rims with little loss in acceleration

your looking at 152 to 162 top speed with 5.2FD and accord 5th gear, on 16's to 18's.

your H22a 4th gear will still top off at about 100 to 110. The accord 5th would be good for cruising on the highway but it's not going to accell as fast as the H22 5th gear.

So what's the skinny on this? Is there a certain number of buyers that are needed? Is there a time table of when this product might actually be produced? Estimated price? Feel free to PM me.

Update

Mfactory has agreed to make a 5.2 FD for the H22 tranny!!!! The price will be $750 shipped. I need to make a list of who will definitely buy one as soon as they are ready (few months out) and a list for "maybe I will later down the road".

Please let me know so I can give them some numbers.

theres a few people bitching about wanting a longer 5th gear bc of the higher rpms in 5th on the highway due to these final drives. others r concerned about mpg or wutever else the reason is for wanting to replace the h22 5th gear with an accord 5th gear. so i was askin if there would be any difference if they were to put in an h23 5th instead of the accord 5th. someone said that they were worried that the h22 5th with these final drives would kill their gas milage. but then u said that the accord 5th would kill acceleration. i dont know much about trannys so i was wondering if the h23 would be different from the accord 5th, like maybe the h23 5th would fall somewhere between the accord n h22 5ths so it would be a lil better mpgwise n not so bad with acceleration.

I'm not sure, but I think the h23 5th gear is the same as the h22 one....either way, if you get a 5.2fd and only can rev to 7000rpm give or take a few, you're not getting above 95-100mph without 5th gear, if you're going to bother changing it, you might as well get the accord one, and its gonna kill you up there

It doesn't really hurt your gas mileage that bad, I daily a 4.71....its reallly not that bad, but then again I don't do a whole lot of highway driving.

im really not that worried about it either, im just tryin to see if maybe there was a "happy medium" u know. right now im usin an h23 tranny with my h22a bc my h22 reverse is fuked. my boss is rebuilding it for me n i wanted to get a fd too. after reading about this new 5.2 it got me a lil confused as far as the wheel sizes go. once it starts warming up n gettin nicer here in ny i plan on gettin either slipstreams or circuit 8s but im not sure which i want yet. the rota page says that the slips will come 16x8 and 15x7 which is pretty good bc i really dont want a big rim, i was hopin to stay 15". but the circuit 8s dont come that wide in 15" but come 16x7. which fd would be better? would it really make that much of a difference being that my car isnt goin to be a track car anyways?

what rpms are you coming up with for those numbers?

7600 RMP's for top speed.

16x8 would be a perfect size wheel for a 5.2FD

Prob. some sort of initial down payment of like $100 or $200 (in a few weeks) to secure your FD, then when they are done (a few months later), you can pay the rest.

PS going from the OEM FD to a 5.2FD will really give your car some get up and go

Myself and a few other prelude road racers will be getting this FD for our race cars, we just need a few more prelude guys to commit with us.

You'll have to put me down on the "maybe later" list as I'm saving up for a new tow-vehicle (to bring the prelude to the track with)

Im sorry I know quite a bit about cars but nothing abount transmissions, what exactly is a final drive gear? Is it like a 4.10 in the differential in a mustang. Im sorry just curious. I love learning.
