4ws light came on.
My friend just bought a 4ws prelly si with 188,000kms on it (roughly 117k mi).
his 4ws light came on, now the car isn't making any funny noises or anything, and the 4ws system seems to work okay, any ideas what it could be people??
i'm really in the dark since i have no idea how 4ws works... is it hydraulic or something?? should we be looking for fluid leaks or anything??
any help appreciated.
TIA

if he has a 92/3 prelude with 4ws then it is electrical. if he has an 88-91 then it is manual. there are no fluids in the 88-91. i don't know much about the 92 model other than it is electrical. there are no sensors or anything plugged into the 88-91 so you must have a 92/3 lude. if you have an 88-91 then you have a wrong code.
oh, and the way 4ws works is when you turn the wheel the front tires turn and the rear tires turn to match that direction. after the first 15 degrees of turning, the front wheels keep going in that direction while the rear wheels go back to the center position. after they straighten out, the front wheels complete the turn and the rear wheels are now moving in the oposite direction. you now have the front wheels going left, for example, and the rear wheels are going right.
\ \ first 15 degrees
\ \
\ \ complete turn

cornering becomes really different with the 4ws system.
