Default xr80 performance

i have never owned a bike. i just boiught my son a new xr80 about a month ago, and i dont think it is performing the way it should. it seems to struggle just to idle and in a full throttle acceleration it will die.

any suggestions would be great.

Check the exhaust. Sometimes the small bikes have a plug in it to hinder performance. It should be at the front of the exhaust pipe connecting to the head.

is he riding it at very slow speeds? Pull the plug out and see if it is getting flooded and clean or replace it.
I still have my 1984 xr80 and and other than cleaning the plug, they are great little machines.

oh, if you try to floor them really quickly, they can bog... it works better to roll on the throttle to get the best out of all 80cc's
good luck

Let it warm up completely with the choke on. If you don't it will most definitely bog. A buddy of mine has a CRF230 that if you snap the throttle hard it'll bog, so roll on the throttle don't just snap it.
