post a timeline of the motorcycles you have owned
Lots of nice bikes all around
Here's mine...
1st bike...2004 XT225, got it plus some cash for my Eclipse GSX. Only had it for a few months and it teached me the basics of riding.
Pros: Very agile, Showa front suspension, uber reliable, cheap, very stout and resistant to falls, pretty fun for the city and light trails, 6spd tranny, E-start
Cons: Slow, small gas tank, unstable at highway speeds (70 MPH or so), no underseat storage space at all, uncomfortable seat for riding 2up.
Next (and actual bike), CB400SF NC31, had it for like 7 months now.
Pros: It's fast for a 400 (Way faster than a GS500 or similar 500 twin bike), great brakes, nice underseat storage space (Very convenient for carrying a fanny pack with camera, wallet, cigars, cellphone), relaxed riding position, great for city and good for the highway, very reliable and bulletproof engine.
Cons: Suspension could be better, peg and exhaust clearance is low (I can scrape them quite easily now), gutless under 7K RPM, under 3k RPM on a slight incline you have to clutch rev it for her to go anywhere.

^^^ Its soo funny to see that timeline of 2003 to current and notice how much better camera technology has come. And how it got affordable. to friends with nicer cameras than mine

I've ridden an 848... i disliked it very much. No mid range, horrible ergos, wet clutch, (despite what you say, not fast) and the low end grunt just wasnt there...
that being said, its nothing that ducati is a representative of.
1098r would be a better go big or go home bike, but for 1/4 of the cost, im happier on my zx-10r, and with 4-5k in suspension and power mods, with similar skilled riders could be just as impressive a tool.

My first bike at the age of 14 was this little wonder (not actual bike): 1989 Suzuki FA50, 50cc two-stroke scooter, all stock:
Followed by this beauty: 2000 R1, Smoked Puig screen, Akrapovic full system, Ivans jet kit, Scotts steering damper, K&N air filter with airbox mod, race rear link:
Currently: 2006 CBR1000RR, Galfer SS brake lines, '05 R1 calipers, 929/954 front brake rotors, '07 R1 Brembo master cylinder, Pirelli Superbike slicks with a 190/55 rear, -1 front sprocket, gutted OEM can and Stompgrip:
And same bike in track mode (sitting in my apartment living room): with e-racings 'glass:
Then this one: 1993 Nighthawk 750: DID ERV3 Gold 520 chain on AFAM sprockets, Vance & Hines full system, Dynojet jet kit:
And the latest addition: 1991 TW200, all stock:
Strange collection, some would say. But, I love 'em all the same.

1: 1995 Honda CBR 600 F3
liked: cheap, forgiving
disliked: old, rear seat was a pita to remove for storage, loud and poopy sounding D&D exhaust

2. 2003 Suzuki GSX-R 600k3
liked: smooth, planted front end, low kickstand, custom paint (i hate the typical stickered out gsxrs)
disliked: lawn mower burbling stock exhaust

3. 2005 Honda CBR 600RR
like: almost everything
dislike: rear storage space, loud as hell two bros exhaust

Don't have many pics of the new ride yet, but here goes:
1) F2/F3 that I built from the frame up with f4i/600rr fairings and motor work
- Liked the power, looks, sound, handling, and most of all the comfort
- Did not like how since I put it together with pieces from many other bikes, it seemed like there was always something to fix.

2) 2000 929rr
- Liked the power, light weight, fairly comfy, everything
- Only sold because it leaked oil and I didn't feel like swapping motors

3) 2005 600rr
- Like the light weight and handling, reliable
- Has no ***, only pulls hard past 9k, not very comfortable for my height, yoshi exhaust sounds like crap

Ok,
First bike at 15 was a 1958 Zundap 250 Motocross Racer. Had a lot of fun with that.
Then a couple years later got a 1971 Triumph 650 Bonneville. It had been modified and excellerated like a 2-stroke.
Few years after that I found a Norton Interstate. My favorite of all time. You could cross it up and slide thru a tight corner like a dirt bike or lean it way over. Incredible handling and weighed 400Lbs.
Next was a 1976 CB750F, that had been modified by the dealer to 836cc and a custom ground cam. Fast...and actually had bottom end torque, but 500Lbs....
My last one was a 1977 GL1000 Goldwing. It leaned over better than the 76 Supersport. Hard to work on.
