yeah, i need to do some fairing repair since it'll be a few monfs before i can afford some sharkskinz.
PO painted it fusion white...too bad he didn't do a very good job with prep. i've got the OEM stickers underneath the paint, so it looks really cheap. he also dropped it a couple of times (originally tornado red, apparently) after the paint so it's pretty rough.
for now, i'm gonna repair the OEM plastics, either spray it flat black/primer, or just leave it like that until i get new fairings. list of priorities is:
1. rear brake lever and clip ons
2. tires
3. elka 3-way
4. slipper clutch
5. race plastics
6. full exhaust + tuneboy

Had my license since november 2004 but didn't get my first bike until september 2006
2004 F4i- (September 2006- May 2007)

I actually bought it for 1000 dollars clean title and spent about 1200 to get it into that condition. Not too bad. Eventually sold it for 3400 dollars
2000 Suzuki SV650 (December 2007- July 2008)

Bought it in decent condition and went crazy with the mods. Had a gsxr front end waiting to be put on it but came across an ad for an RC51 and the guy wanted a first gen sv650 for trade.
2003 Honda RC51 (July 2008- Current)

Traded the SV with all the parts plus gsxr front end for this. I love it like crazy
I wish honda come out with a new litertwin. That would be so bad ***

$4500, clean title 8100 miles. mostly stock.
beat up daytona's get to be about that much--they're just not always to fix on the cheap. i see 06's getting into the mid 6 asking price range, so probably high 5's will get you one.

My first bike when I was a kid:
*
Then I stepped up to one of these:
*
Then I got the ***** and hopped on one of these:
*
Then fast forward to about 3 months ago, and I got this:
*Does not picture exact bike, but basic concept.

It's funny, cuz I saw it in a picture first, didn't like it. Saw it in person, and the salesman said, let me roll it outside so you can see the true beauty of this color, it hit the sun, and LOVE! I mean, green is my favorite color too. I originally was going to get it in black, but this was $300 cheaper and had the color matched rims at no additional cost.

First bike:
1988 Yamaha FZ600

(not an actual picture of my bike - mine had a flat black paint job, pink handlegrips, and a Mugen sticker, all courtesy of the previous owner)
- Weird POS. But as a first bike back in '98, you could do worse.
Bike #2:
1995 Honda CBR600F3

- Been through the most with this bike. First canyon run, first trackday, first tipover in a parking lot, etc. I'm always enamored with the idea of owning a cherry version of another F3, but the reality is I would hardly ride it.
3rd bike:
1999 Honda VTR1000F (Superhawk)

- My next favorite bike. The vtwin sound really is addicting, and you don't see too many of this bike on the street or at trackdays. Suspension was crap, but at 240#, most stock suspension is crap.
Bike #4:
1999 Suzuki GSXR750

- My track-only bitch. Rode her at two or three trackdays, then sold to pick up the next track-only bike...
5th and 6th bikes:
2004 KTM 450SMR and 1998 Ducati 748

(KTM)
- Meh. I think I tried too hard to get into this sport, and getting bit in the *** a few times sucked. Made me lose enthusiasm.
(Duc)
- Always dreamed of owning one. She looked much prettier in the garage. Riding to the canyons sucked, but once you're there, the bike is loads of fun. I bought it for cheap, though, and made a tidy little profit when it was sold.
7th bike:
1993 Honda CBR900RR

- Pretty bike. She wasn't perfect, but I got the most compliments/stares/nostalgic glances with this bike.
Finally, bike #8:
2005 Kawasaki ZX6R

- So far, I'm on the fence with this bike. All the other purchases were exciting and what-I-wanted (at the time). Maybe that's a sign I won't be selling it anytime soon........?

First bike: circa october 2006, 1987 yamaha fz600...
(not my bike... mine was a funky blue color with lots of scratches
)
i bought this non-running bike under the assumption that it would be easy to get running. once i got it running, i found the title that came with the bike was not for the actual bike. bought it for $500, sold it for $250
Second bike: april '06 - may '07, 1989 honda CB-1...

i LOVED this bike. bought it in ohio and rode it home to central illinois. i replaced the burned-out and rashed up kerker can with the jardine one in the picture. i had to sell it due to financial reasons, and have regretted it ever since.
pros - fun, chain drive cam sound, very flickable. i loved the looks. cons - had a tendency to 'tuck' in slow corners, terrible on the highway... slow
Third bike: december '07 - current, 1989 honda hawk gt...

picked it up for cheap off ebay - cleaned out the carbs and installed a jet kit to match the pod filters and exhaust the p/o put on. i must say that i don't have much attachment to this bike... i sort of want to make it a track bike, but by the time i invest in the suspension i could have purchased a decent 600SS.
pros - fun, extremely easy to throw around in corners, unique. cons - slow, a little boring. motor is a turd.
Fourth bike: april '08 - current, 1998 honda vfr800...

another bike that i love. i've put over 3000 miles on it since april.
pros - the sound, good torque.... comfy. 600 mile days are surprisingly easy. cons - a little heavy. touring windscreen looks dorky

Likes: GORGEOUS, torquey as hell, sounds amazing, great suspension.
Dislikes: Expensive to modify, not too comfy for long rides, gas milage is pretty bad.

First Bike: 1980 Honda cx500 (Not a picture of my actual bike, but I thought it was cool)
Goods: First bike, cool motor, cool sound, never stranded me, $200!
Bads: Heavy as hell (dropped at least half a dozen times just trying to park this bitch), slow as hell (lost in a drag race against a friends 2001 Jetta vr6
), didn't handle worth a sh*t, would overheat occationally
[IMG]
[/IMG]
Second Bike: 2003 Kawi zx6r (should have just kept it for what I got $$$ wise in 'street-fighter' form)
Goods: Great power in a 600 (636), light, decent brakes, looked good, front end still well planted w/o a damper, 15.5k redline, still kickin hard after a 35mph crash!
Bads: Still no torque, suspension could have been better, no rear brake, 15.5k redline (seriously cool at first, but after awhile it got old, and you dont want to have to sound like an ******* to go fast on the street)!
Before: [IMG]
[/IMG]
After: [IMG]
[/IMG]
Third Bike: 2001 Ducati 748 (Would have kept it if not for the Italian ***** sucking all my money away in routine maintenance...went to a good home)
Goods: YES!! Torque!, sounded like the world was ending upon decelleration
, sounded great, L twins sound amazing,
dry clutch, awesome handling despite being a heavy bike, biposto (girlies loved it!), looked amazing, ohlins rear shock owns all, super easy to tear down and work on!
Bad: Down on power 105hp
, heavy bike, brakes more or less sucked (front required too much pull, and rear was a joke...it had stainless lines btw), $$$$maintenance$$$$$ $750 every 6k miles for valves, belts, etc(and that's assuming you don't have any flaking rockers), terrible electronics, brembo components also were garbage back then (went through 2 clutch slaves, one rear caliper, one brake master, and one clutch master).
[/IMG]
Fourth Bike: 1998 Ducati 916 (bought this to hold me over till the shop was done with the 748...took 2 1/2 months
)
Goods: same as 748 just LOTS more torque! supposidly made 130whp with unknown engine mods. All I know is it was loads more power than the 748, but supposidly made only 2 more hp from the factory
Bads: A bit haggered, even worse electronics (anything pre 2000 had a single phase generator, and wiring put together by a 2 year old), melted electrical connectors
[IMG]
[/IMG]
Fifth Bike: 2000 GSXR 750 (ex-track bike, has ol' skool yosh cams and pistons, and full exhaust)
Goods: Feels much lighter than either ducs, 140whp, power that would make most people poo themselves, handles beautifully with olhins rear shock & o-spec front forks, decent looking for an old jap bike, yah! wheelies!
Bads: Crap tranny, its just another soul-less jap bike
, mine needs a little work.

first bike i got back in july 2005:

then during the winter time of that same year i upgraded to this beauty:

had the 636 for a little over a year and then sold it and 4 months laterand bought this:
2002-2004
1988 Honda CBR600F Hurricane.
Pros- great starter bike, felt crazy fast to me at the time, pretty decent shape, typical honda reliability.
Cons- Not a lot of power, heavy so wheelies were tricky, old school styling.

2004-2007
2004 Kawasaki ZX6R bought new off the showroom floor.
Pros- Everything, bike was everything I ever wanted in a motorcycle, probably should have kept it, but wanted to pay off my debt.
Cons- nothing, it was a fantastic bike in every way, no problems whatsoever.

2007-Present
1979 Yamaha XS650 twin dropseat air-ride chopper
Pros- Fully custom built by me, lots of fun, great looks from people trying to figure out what it is. Nothing like watching people double take when I set it down with no kickstand. Pretty pimpin' bike if I do say so myself.
Cons- Took a year and a half to build and isn't painted yet, slow as *****, hard to get it insured.
Here's the build thread on the bike if you're interested:
