Default Noob Question Inside

So this might be a question that was asked before but what i wanna know is: I have a Gsxr 600 with a Muzzy slip on, and im really not liking the way it sounds. So I took the slip on off and started it up. IT sounds vicsous like one of them GP bikes. So i was thinking to make a custom polished 6 inch pipe from that base going to the side but Im wondering does having no exhaust hurt your performance? How about the actual bike? I heard somewhere that having no back pressure will reduce TQ and eventually damage something is it true? What do you think guys? Any input would be appreciated.

Cop magnet anyone...

That being said... I have done it and it's not worth the effort or sound level. you MAY gain some tippy top/red line HP(very little), but you will loose allot of torque/ridability and the sound is simply ugly

Also if you ride without a pipe for very long you will get a major headache, it gets sooooo loud and its constant I would recomend keeping your pipe on.
