oh i didnt have to take that test.
you should have taken the MSF course, it bypasses the dmv test. (maybe in just certain states?)

Did you read the DMV Motorcycle Manual? It says on the website that it's detailed in the manual.
If it's anything like the CA-DMV test, then you have to navigate a keyhole-shaped pattern one way and back. You aren't allowed to pass outside (or inside) of the two lines that make up the keyhole-shape.

yeah i was reading the manual and thanks im assuming its gunna be something like that, i just gotta keep getting more seat time esp at low speeds cause it seems like the test is balance and clutch usage
You must be talking about the riding test after the written test, right?? Well, I don't know how they do it up there, but in FL we basically got to know clutch control, knowing your ablity to stop on a dime, balancing, like riding around cones, I remember I had to stop my front tire within a box about 1 square foot, and I think I could only mess up on only 1 of the test. If any more, then I would have been sent home.

Clutch-slipping helps, as does some rear brake modulation.

Shouldn't the DMV have the course in the back parking lot or something?

The Illinois test isn't exactly the same.

Page 37 and 38 are the tests you'll need to do.

yeah i know the DMV in schaumburg has the road test course painted on the parking lot out back... the elgin one should too, but i've never been there. any other facilities that do M testing should have one. and you can do what that other poster did, just go there and take measurements and then map it out so you can practice.
