cost difference in 2/4 stroke
so i have been looking to buy a dirt bike for the last few days and kinda was settled on getting a 250 4 stroke -- you experienced riders, why do same year bikes cost almost double for a 4 stroke as compared to a 2 stroke? i can find plenty of 2 strokes for under 2 g's, but seems like there is not a single decent 4 stroke for the same price? why is this
2 storkes are cheaper to maintain and super easy to work on, but need rebuilt almost every season. 4 strokes last a ton longer and have a smooth powerband, better trail bike, when you need to rebuild the motor though $$$$$.

Yeah, but don't forget that you will have do valves probably about as often as the two stroke guy has to do a top end.
And two strokes are the best trail bikes. There's no arguing that. Just look at what David Knight rides.

because four strokes are much more expensive to produce, many more moving parts, a much more complicated combustion cycle. In addition, with emssion regulations coming down hard, they are much more in Vogue, hence more demand = higher price
