Default CBRF2 fairing question

hey i just got a 93 CBR a week ago, it had some fairing damage, and the upper right and left fairing are cracked (where the signals mount). i was wondering if anyone can tell me, should i replace them with another pair of stock fairings? or does it make more sense to get a one piece fiberglass upper from targa? some people say fiberglass aint a good idea cuz the stock ones are polyurethane.. any help would be greatly appreciated.. thanks

If you're looking at "race bodywork" it won't match your stock bodywork. It will also lack support structure for your marker/signals. IE: not street legal. Of course you can modify to accomodate but you're talking about the whole kit. Summary, the race piece won't match up to your stock piece on the other side. Lesson to be learned: Get frame sliders today and don't let people touch your bike.

OEM replacement are expensive as hell new. Check eBay. There is a full set of plastics for 91-94 F2's on there right now. If you want you can go with a full set of street sharkskinz which have mounts for mirrors, headlights, turnsignals etc..., but you have to get the upper, both lowers, and the 1pc rear solo tail for it all to work. Good luck man. I know how you are feeling. I've got a 93 F2 w/ needed cosmetics.

The fit and finish on fiberglass fairings are crap. I had an f2 and i put a 1 piece upper on it and it was junk. The side fairings did not line up to the upper and the fuse panel wouldnt fit either. Buy oem or send your parts to the plasticdr.net and have em repaired.

the one i tried on my f2 was a targa oem replacement. I have also been around many bikes with aftermarket fiberglass fairings ranging from sharkskinz, gp composites, beasley, airtech etc. I am telling you they dont fit as nice as oem. If you are ok with having body lines that dont match up and if you dont mind having uneven gaps between panels go for it.

I know for a fact it takes some work to get the fuse panel in and to install the inspection doors.

Well obviously nothing is going to fit like OEM. Just like cars. However I've had good luck with Sharkskins on three bikes so far. Fit pretty well.

well when you mate a sharkskinz upper to a sharkskinz lower it is going to match up pretty good. However when you mount x upper to oem lowers, they dont match as well.

Now if you were getting an upper and lower you would be much happier.

Well I don't know about all bikes because I have not looked, but on the ones I dealt with they specifically put on there..."Above Uppers & Lowers WILL NOT interchange with Stock pieces!!!".

The one in question is the targa oem replacement upper. It is made to work with the oem lowers. Most race plastics split mid engine and have a 1 piece upper/lower and will only work with their other 1/2. I was just commenting on this exact piece since I have had experience with it on my f2. sorry for the crappy pic, it is an old one.
