Re: My crx build (starting from a shell)
So lots of progress on this recently, I got some overtime at work so a little extra cash, so heres the most recent, I got the bottom end of the block completely built, brand new everything, cometic racing head gasket, arp head studs in place and torqued down, just waiting for my kevlar timing belt to get here and then its on to finishing the head, went all out and bought all brand new bolts, and intake/exhaust studs from honda cost about 200$ but worth it since the effort of trying to track down a gsr that anyone was parting out and convince them just to let me take the bolts off it was kinda hard lol
Got the new lightened pully with power steering and a/c delete (stock is about 10lbs new ones 1.5) anything to lighten the load on the engine will def help haha, the only problem I have now is theres 2 holes in the back of the block that go directly to the oil pan, one i found out is for oil/water cooling but apperently I can just put a plug in it, the other looks like aftermarket oil cooling line but I'm not 100% so I dont wanna just plug it up and hope it wasnt important lol anyway heres some pics on the progress, next i plan on swapping out the suspension from my other crx just so i can have a rolling shell and hopefully take it to my college classes with me and work on the body in my auto-body and auto conclusion repair classhttp://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...-16-20_844.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...-16-09_558.jpg http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...-08-26_434.jpg |

Re: My crx build (starting from a shell)
Nice build! I love following other's build projects, haha. I'm selling my cb7 for a police interceptor atm and gonna save up to look for a shell and start my own project. I plan on building my f22 that i have sitting in my garage. Gonna strip it down and it'll shine. Can't wait! So excited, watching other projects progress only motivates me more to get my project on the road! lol. :rave:

Re: My crx build (starting from a shell)
Haven't updated in a while, so I swapped the suspension and wheels off my donor crx (aka floppy fred) and got the shell rolled into the shop for the winter. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...psae77f559.jpg
I got the back hatch off and started scraping out the old sound proofing mats on the floor in preparation for the lizard skin sound proofing/insulation (http://www.lizardskin.com/) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...ps6d739898.jpg Took me about 3hrs+ of continuous chipping away with a hammer n flat head screwdriver but I finally got it all scraped off, now I just needa remove the other back window and windshield since I have it stripped to this point I figure I mayswell get them out of the way too when I go to paint it so I get its even and looks professional (ish) http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y24...ps22370a3b.jpg Also I decided that I'm doing the engine bay white with zebra stripes haha |

This green CRX looks almost exactly like mine! lol... but mine is Torino Red Pearl. For reals, the green color is pretty cool. I almost painted mine a green color and I was going to use a factory Honda Color: Aberdeen Green Metallic which comes on the Pilots and Ridgelines a couple years back. Here is an S2K dressed in it.

Thats awesome :D , i know im gonna sound like a total noob, but where can i learn to build a honda from a shell, cause i have a ef with b18a1 swap, but i wanna know everything about, im really interested by all this but i dont know where to start? Can anyone point me into the right direction? I also want to learn how to rewire it, cause the battery always dies for some reason? Im in the process of painting it so i will have before and after pictures as well

Re: My crx build (starting from a shell)

i also have an ef with b18a1 you might just have to jump in and learn from doing thats the best way and most rewarding, but as far as the battery goes just make sure you dont have a bump alternator, loose connections, old battery. stuyff like that, is it relaocated or under the hood? i moved mine to the trunk so i could have more room for the air intake but if yours is relocated as well you wanna make sure it is done right
ps oh and battery is under the hood, but do your headers hang out the bottom mine scrape like crazyyyy |
