Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
You know I have no idea, so there may not be a market for one. I’ve never had one go in any of my Civics and they’ve all been over 200k at some point in my ownership of them, but I also haven’t had an EF since like 2006.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
I listed another batch on eBay today. The price works out to be the same as last time. Last time I had folks send me an old ICU first then after I received it, I sent a new ICU to them. This time I am charging a core fee so I can send the new ICU right away and refund the core fee as soon as I get the core. The only difference in the end should be that folks get the new ICU about a week faster. I previously said I would never do a core fee, but I need to adjust to the reality of the situation and admit that I was wrong.

Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
I posted another batch of ICUs on eBay. On eBay they sell for $169 plus a $40 core fee. If you PM me here on Honda-Tech I can sell them to you for $20 less because we avoid the eBay fees.

Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
I have sold quite a few of these ICUs on eBay. I'm getting lots of positive feedback. I posted another batch today. If you PM me here on Honda-Tech I can sell them to you for $20 less because we avoid the eBay fees.

Two people noted that some aftermarket electrical additions/modifications they had previously made to their cars made it harder for them to access the back of their fuse boxes to install the ICU.
One person thought I had sent the wrong part because the connectors had a different number of electrical contacts.
I should have anticipated that getting an electrical part that connects to the car with a different number of pins could understandably cause some concern. The US version has one more pin than the OEM part and the Canadian version has four fewer pins than the original part. I will add this information to the datasheet I provide with each ICU.
One person noted that on one occasion after spraying the windshield with the washer that the wipers briefly stopped slightly out of the parked position.
This can happen rarely but it self corrects after two seconds. It is a bit complicated to explain. When you engage the washer it starts the wipers as well, this is one of the new features. When you disengage (release) the washer, the wipers continue to initiate additional wipes for two seconds. On the rare occasion that the two seconds unfortunately happen to expire at the moment the wipers are just barely out of the parked position, the wipers will momentarily stop there, but two seconds later they will complete the wipe and correctly return to the parked position.
Based on the feedback I have received, and over ten months combined testing, it seems the ICUs are working reliably and as designed, so I feel comfortable putting a few more up for sale. I decided that I don’t want to deal with the problems created by charging a core fee, so I won’t ever be charging one. Of course if you have a non-functional ICU that you don’t want I would love to have it.
I have determined that the easiest way for me to comply with all the applicable tax laws is to sell them on eBay and let them handle the taxes. To find them on eBay search “New EF ICU” If you are in the Washington DC area, I will be happy to meet in person at a “Cars & Coffee” and I can sell you one for $100 cash, and if you like, I can even help you install it.
This is silly because no one will ever see this inside the case on the back of the fuse box but, I tried a few different colors, just because I could. I prefer the black, what do you think?
id vote green or white, just to see if there was a problem down the road, discoloration will be easier to see. Id like a unit if still available, and i will get the required photos asap.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
Photos are no longer required. I never thought about possible discoloration not being visible on a black PCB, that is a very good point! I think I need to stop using black PCBs. BTW, I see your profile says you are in Antarctica, these are not guaranteed to be compatible with the Civics sold in Antarctica. I now sell them on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/126956680099
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
im just paranoid. in ca, not an. I tried to message on ebay, but they flagged it, tried do dm here, but i had to start a new profile because i lost my old account from non-use. Lol. Ill figure this out. I know spam posting is frowned upon... but I'll try some stuff.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
On eBay I sell new ICUs for $199 ($159 + $40 core fee) I sell them here for $139 + an old ICU.
For a limited time I am also offering another $7 off for each additional old ICU you send me.
So if you are like me and you ended up with a bunch of bad ICUs this is your opportunity.
Also, I have a bunch of old ICUs that I have removed the connectors from, if anyone has a use for them I would be happy to let you have them. Here is a sample.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
I was curious how much an OEM ICU would cost if it was available so I stopped by the parts department at a local Honda dealer and asked. They were able to quote me a price and gave me this printout.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
I ordered a unit and it showed up quickly, and works perfect. With a working icu unit, i now realize that there were funky issues that i didnt even know were related to a bad icu that have been resolved. Im very glad i got it. Thank sir for your fine work!

My front turn signal lights were not blinking the same between left and right. I had to remove one of the corner light bulbs to make them act similarly. Once i replaced the icu, i was able to put a bulb back in and they now blink similarly between left and right. Also, sometimes over very ruff road surfaces, the door alarm would come on and keep beeping until i turned the car off and on again (definitely not a safe thing to do while driving, but it didnt happen too often, so it was just 'part of piloting an old car'). With the new icu it no longer does this either. Very pleased with how easy it was to install too.

Yes, i watched your video before hand, hoping to find some extra secrets of the trade. Im always interested in the way other people do things, in the case that its different than the way i do it, and maybe i learn something new. I didnt end up taking the tray out because i have a floppy wrench that made it easy enough to get to without doing so.
Re: I successfully reverse engineered and enhanced the ICU
eBay is currently running a 10% off coupon code "SAVEMAR25" which you can apply to the New EF ICUs I am selling. On top of that I am offering an additional $7 refund for each old malfunctioning ICU you send me. (limit 5)
