Default 88 EF misfire and starting problems

So this may be a bit of a long thread but im at a loss as to what to look for next to fix this car. I bought this 88 Ef last year and when I bought it there was a slight misfire at the top of each gear and on a cold start but once it was warm there was no misfire. The car was extremely slow like it was getting no power at all and I would actually lose speed on any sort of hill. So say what you want about this next part but its the wife's car and she actually overfilled it with oil when putting more in as it had a leak. since then the car has only started 20% of the time and has had a consistent misfire. I read as many forums as I could and was/wasn't just throwing parts at it as I needed this thing to drive. I first swapped the dizzy as I was getting an ecu code for it but no change and even after I swapped it I was still getting a dizzy code. Changed the injectors thinking they were clogged. I checked fuel pressure and im getting about 35 on my gauge coming from the outlet on the fuel filter. I've changed plugs the PGMFI and I even swapped the ecu. ( which was from an crx). Did the thermostat and the coolent temp sensors as well as a few others sensors ( names are escaping me right now). I have also cleaned or replaced all the grounds With all these changes the car was only getting worse and would start maby 1 or 2 times with every change and then nothing. With every start up it was blowing crazy amounts of white smoke like enough till fill my culdesac .Today I changed a bunch of stuff back including the dizzy , injectors, new plugs played with timing on the dizzy. Checked all my fuzes. The car starts but it has a very hard time starting and is a constant misfire even until warm. Car only has 250,000kms. I'm at a complete loss I have no idea what to check for next If you have any suggestions or questions anything would help at this point

Have you tried running it with the cat disconnected? Could be gummed up.

Have you done a compression test or leakdown test on this engine? have you looked at the plugs at all to determine if its one cylinder that is misfiring or all of them or if there is oil or fuel on the plugs? Have you checked the timing belt is still in good shape and not loose?

compression test was something that was next on my list as well as checking timing. i was just hoping it would be an issue that I did not know about that does not require the work that intails if those tests fail. A leakdown test for whatever reason i did not think of and will have to grab a test kit for that. I have looked all the plugs. 2 of them were dry and 2 were still wet with oil when I checked yesterday. I cleaned them up but still the same issue with the plugs. I have checked and cleaned them a few times as well as I have replaced the plugs 2 times after the overfill. I did check for spark on both the dizzys I have and both of them give good spark to all 4 plugs. I also pulled the dizzys apart to check cap and rotor and all connections and they both check out good as well made sure they were getting proper current with a multi meter.
