The Element is much more versatile when it comes to cargo. The rear cargo area can handle much larger objects.
The CR-V is the "safe" choice. The CR-V seats 5, get a bit better mileage, and rides better.
If you are a biker, camper, the Element is the best choice.
If you are a soccer mom, the CR-V.
