2012 CR-V Keyfob reprogram
I just got my keyfob working at the dealer a month ago and already the battery is dying. The last time I replaced the battery, it had to be reprogrammed..
Is there a way to reprogram keyfobs for the 2012 CR-V?

The battery in the remote key fob is used with the keyless system to lock and unlock the car. If the keyless system doesn't work after battery replacement, you can trying a reset by pressing the transmitter's lock or unlock button at least ten times. Your issue may possibly be caused by a failing transmitter.
The battery in the key fob is not used as part of the Immobilizer system to start the car. (For example, valet keys do not have a battery to start the car.) There is a transponder in the key fob. There is an Immobilizer control unit-receiver in the car which uses electromagnetic induction to energize the electronic transponder in the key. There is no direct electrical connection. Once the electronic transponder is energized, the key sends its ID code to the immobilizer control unit-receiver.
Generally, replacing the battery for the key fob does not require any reprogramming.
If you replaced the transmitter, then reprogramming is necessary. Dealer and some locksmiths can reprogram for the Immobilizer system, as well as some aftermarket equipment

Okay that makes sense. I think I was mixing up the time I replaced the alternator and the key wouldn't start the car until we did something to get that Immobilizer reinitialized.
Thanks for clarifying for me tech8! I bought new batteries, installed them one at a time and it looks like everything is good 2 go.
