Wheel Stud Replacement
I recently noticed a horrible shake in my car, so I get out, look at all the wheels and my front drivers side wheel only had 2 lug nuts on https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif I checked and 2 of the studs had broken right of. Not sure how it happened
Tomorrow Im going over to NAPA to get two more then put them in. Will I need to pull the whole hub assembly? Or can I slide the studs in from behind without mangeling the threads? TIA! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |

Re: Wheel Stud Replacement (CodyC142)
you will have to pulll the hubs out to put the studs in properly...there is a thread on here on how to do it properly...and also there is another thread to do it with a slide hammer. just search

Re: (Eran)
Ahh.. On my 93 Si its a little different. Ive heard that the stud actually hits the hub on the other side.
Any other input https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: (CodyC142)
for some reason I cant search on honda-tech. It just wont complete it from my house computer. It just spins and spins and spins and spin. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

Re: (CodyC142)
^ it's no different.
I was able to bend the dust shield out of the way and get the new stud in place on my 93 EX. |
Re: (t0p_sh0tta)
Yes bend the brake shield or like I did snip a lil piece out. If you cant hammer old stud out all the way cut the heads off with a grinder. I still had a tight fit putting new studs in so I used a grinder to make a flat side (Just as much as it takes) which made it possible to clear the blockage. Those Hubs are a pain to remove in my experience (only tried once) so this ghetto method might work for you too. I have had no problems ever since. I hate the way Honda makes you take the hub off to change em it's such a Beeoch!! https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif When all else fails and your broke go Ghetto-tech |
Re: (Budget Racer)
I did all the studs on my 93 Si with out removal of the hub assyit wasn't all that hard but I alos had a hot knife to help get the old studs out.

Re: (Luserkid)
when i had my loose front stud i brought it Les Schwab and they took it out for me...I think $15 for it
just bought the replacement stud from honda dealership |
Re: (Luserkid)
Yup thats how I did it except I barely flatend one side of the stud and it worked great. There was still enough material so that the stud head would stay strong.
