My girlfriend is looking at a carfax and she want to know if it has a b16 or a d16? we have not seen this car, she wants to know if it is even worth going to see it. I know that if i see it i can tell by just looking at the motor, what i am trying to do is know be for i go. Re: VIN Number????? (crxkane)

Why not just go look at it? Or ask the guy what the engine code is on the block?

well its really pointless no matter what any carfax or other say it has.... because you wont know truely what it has until you go see it for yourself.

if you have a helm's for a del sol, it will tell you how to decode the vin #. the vin # should indicated what engine the car was originally equiped with.

If you're serious, VIN stands for Vehicle Identification Number. Its a 17 character code that contains information about your car, engine type, chassis type, year of production, plant of production ect.

If you're not serious, you've successfully made me look like an ass.

I think he was asking what the specific vin was, not "what is a vin?"
