yea, but it ain't worth it. just get yours bead blasted and spray paint it. that's what i did, and it would look exactly the same if i just took the paint off the lettering and H emblem.

how does he not know anything- that's probably the smartest thing to do if you just want the look. Hmm, 5 bucks for Yellow paint, or 500 for the valve color. It's cheap, looks good, and money well saved. Take a scuff pad to the letters, and it will look much nicer

Sure, i'll explain why your assumptions were false.

You were giving instructions on how to replicate a Spoon yellow valve cover, correct? For you to do so, you must first know the process involved in achieving the final product.

First of all Spoon doesn't "bead blast" the valve cover. Secondly, not all of them have the insignias and lettering on the face shaved to a silver finish.

In actuality, REAL Spoon valve covers are simply JDM ITR valve cover painted over with yellow paint (yes with the red finish still underneath).

I think you gave Spoon a lil' more credit than they deserved.

FIN

that's my logic... $$$ spent on jdm bling goodies http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthdown.gif , or $$$ spent on zeal function b6. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif hmm http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif

yeah i've never seen a real one with the letters polished. I've always seen the letters yellow.

na, i wasn't giving instructions on how to replicate one. i don't research crap like that. i was just tellin' him how i did mine. and just FYI, everybody that looks under my hood asks if it's a spoon crate motor. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emhammer.gif lol

however, it is nice to know that i put more work into my valve cover than spoon does! hmm... maybe i could sell mine for more than they do? http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif

not true!

there are two generations of the valve covers

one is red with yellow painted over it and the other is just gloss yellow paint

either can have colored or polished emblems on them there are two difrent styles that spoon made

i think bead blasting then painting it yellow if perfect for achevieng the sqme excact look as the spoon cover its about 455 dollars less too http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

i though on the old spoon valve covers they just painted over the red, but on the new spoon valve covers they remove the paint first...

excatly i just dont know what the generations were the old ones were painted over the red wrinkle finish and the new ones are painted over the polished valve covers i think either have colored letters or polished letters but im not sure all i know is that ive see both in pics only

well, i believe that my valve cover is higher quality than spoon's http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmilep.gif

therefore, if anyone would like to send me their valve cover to be bead blasted, primered, and covered w/ two coats of high temp paint.... send me an IM.

i will only charge u a fraction of what spoon charges, and you're gettin better quality. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emwink.gif http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: Is there such thing as spoon valve cover? (B_Cruz)

yes it was a civic mount (d15b) but motor came with identical one but it was unusable as the inner rubber was torched
