RPM gauge issues....

Okay I did a search but found no useful information, ever since I redid my motor and got my paint job done, I notice that at 3500rpm my rpm needle doesn't rev up like before. Now it works like it's getting stuck on something, it'll rev up then stop then up again then stop like it's sticking? Any one have any ideal? Motor sound good and vtec kicks in but rpm needle is unstable.

the engine does this or it's just the needle on your tach?

Sorry I can't help other then to tell you to replace the Dizzy. Mine was doing the something, so I just stuck one of my spare dizzy's in and the problem stopped.

check your distributor and your distributor ground
rpm is guaged by negative from dizzy so its probably something around there, maybe some electronic clearner and clean the connections.
