please help.

ok i admit im a noob to the whole honda world. I bought a 92 cx hatch and its got a tired d15 i am about to buy a 1997 sohc vtec out of a hx it's the econo-vtec. i was wandering if someone could shed some light on how hard it's gonna be. like im getting engine, trans, axles, ecu, everything cause friend did a gsr swap. i heard i gotta use my dizzy and injectors. but cant find a definate answer if the obd1 dizzy is gonna bolt to the obd2 vtec head and that sort of stuff. i really need help, the only reason for this swap is im gettin the stuff for $200 and my motor burns oil like 1 qt a week!! please help i wasn't gonna post cause im gonna get flamed but i need help!

obd1 dizzy wont bolt-on... search i lil bit more for a obd2 dizzy since you'll have a obd2 ecu... less hassle with wiring imo

ok so i gotta use the obd2 ecu... how do i do that? i know its a dumb question cant i use the obd1 ecu?and run vtec off like a shift light? I heard the cx is already wired for vtec(?) so what do i really gotta do? im really new to honda's i got a mini-truck and this is my first honda. if i use obd2 i gotta change out my whole harness right? i got a diagram to change obd1 gsr distributor to obd2 ek is it the same just reversed?

no you can use a cx dizzy (d15b7 I believe), and if you have to activate some vtec crap on the hx motor, then just use a p28 ecu. Get a 4 wire o2, obd1 injectors (or obd2 injector plugs), run a4 to hx vtec thing, and just ground a d6 (since as far as I remember hx got some sort of vtec solenoid but doesn't have a vtec pressure switch, so that vtec-e engages you got make computer think that you got enough oil presure). I don't know how the whole vtec-e thing work or what it gives you so ask some hx wizzard.

you gotta use hx ecu with hx engine. different fuel maps and different vtec engagement points

Then I think it's easier to just get a uberdata obd I ecu (program it for hx fuel map and that super low vtec engagment point) then changing the whole harness, or buying obd1>obd2 converter and then getting 5 wire o2 and all sorts of crap like that.

I am looking to do a similar swap. Instead of a 92 cx, I have a 92 vx. I am (at least I believe I am) going to get an obd2 to obd1 harness and use my stock vx computer. You might be able to do the same by wiring up vtec from the computer.

If you're going to go with a y5 head on that d16 block, you have to use the y5 ECU. No way around it, unless you want to spend the extra money buying a FMU. I doubt that even with uberdata or Hondata that you can even set the Vtec crossover low enough to make the y5 even manageable. IMO, it would be so much easier and cheaper to do a OBD1->OBD2 crossover with a harness and keep the p2n (y5) ECU.

i know that this sounds stupid, but can you use a obd2 ecu on a obd1 car with a obd1 wiring harness? I want a d16y5 in my eg with a obd1 wiring harness......so do they even make a crossover harness like that? I have always heard of people switching their obd2 cars to obd1, but never vice versa.

Why would he need an FMU. He should be able to make a similar map in uberdata and set the over to stock. I have my vtec over set at 2001rpm I beleive. I was messing around to see how it would feel that low. I am goign to set ti back to the 5K range but I have been too lazy to burn another chip.
