Default obd2a to obd2b conversion??

ok so I'm very very new to working on cars with an ecu. so here goes my issue.

i bought a 2000 civic hatchback (d16y7) car i believe it to be obd2b (someone told me) and i have put in a 1996 coupe d16y8 (obd2a) i used the wiring harness from the d16y7. and the ecu. but it will only crank over now. no fuel pump buzz..

the stock ecu for the d16y7 has 3 plug ins, 2 are off the engine harness and one plugs in from the harness that goes to the fuse panel under the hood then back under the dash.

the d16y8 has 3 ecu plugs but there all off the engine.. does this mean i need to change the fuse panel and all the dash wiring as well?

i bought this car cheap half swapped after being told it just needed to drop in plug in and drive away... "its my reliable car"

please give me some info thanks a lot for your help.

you need an obd2b to obd2a conversion harness. that will fix your ecu plug issue.

you still have to do a 3 wire to 2 wire iacv conversion, knock sensor, and vtec solenoid.

so you get the 2b to 2a conversion and run the stock 2 b wires? how do yo unwire up the iacv and stuff? also in order to get the vtec to work you need to get a vtec ecu right. theres not something inside you can do to engage it is there?
