Idle air control valve issues!!

I have cleaned my IAC valve several times with carb cleaner and pluged out the battery and still my car idles high after a couple driving. I would drive and then put my car in neutral and my idle is at 1300 rpm. I don't know what to do from here. Any help is much appreciated.

The dizzy is not the problem because after i clean my IAC valve it runs good until another day when i start my car again it acts up.

Have you checked for vacuum leaks? If so, then just replace it. It's probably long past it's service life.

the two lines that are located under the IAC valve are good coolant flows through them like its suppose to.

Buy a new Iac Valve from Honda, that will fix your problem, its a little pricey but well worth the trouble. I dont go through the cleaning issues with the iac anymore because its a hit and miss situation.

My IACV was bad on my em1 so I just bought a new one from autozone for around $180.

I would look into the FITV before you buy a new IACV.

When your idle is high keep the motor running while you take off the intake tube. Cover up the lower hole inside your throttle body with your finger. If the idle fixes itself when you do that then it is your FITV.

As mentioned, clean and adjust the FITV. Click FITV in my signature.

Yes, but the FITV should also be adjusted.

Re: Idle air control valve issues!!

so can't i just tighten it all the way and if it idles to low just adjust from the throttle body or i have to adjust it from the FITV

Re: Idle air control valve issues!!

You can tighten it all the way down, but I would do it 1 1/2 turns out. To save your self time though I would test it like I said earlier!

It takes about 20 seconds to take off your intake and it is a 100% foolproof way to see if it is your FITV! When your car is warmed up there should be very very little to no air going into that lower hole.

If it still has a bad idle while covering that lower hole, try covering the top hole. When you cover the top hole the car's idle should drop ALOT! It should even die. If it still idles with the top hole covered you have a leaking vaccum line somewhere. If the car does die it is a 95% chance that it is your IACV or TPS. Probably IACV.

Re: Idle air control valve issues!!

Does the idle drop if you cover the hole to the FITV?
