Help, what do i do about this sensor, see pics ------>

both pics are about a sonsor located behind the intake manifolds. the first pic is of the a d16 i took out my 95 civic. the second is from the b16 im putting in(sorry i couldnt get the same angles). notice that the top pic has a black sensor with a hose plugged in to the manifold. the bottom pic doesnt have it nor a place to bolt the sensor down. i was planning on using the one from the d16 and bolt it else where on the b16's manifold. but my main concern is where am i gonna hook up that hose to? i was thinking of using a tee from another hose. but im not even too sure what this sensor is since i dont have my helms with me http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emhammer.gif so if u guys can help me out on this i would really appreciate it

i actually drilled a hole in my type r manifold for the hose, then used a piece of metal vaccum line and put a little silicone around it,no problems here.there was alittle spot on the type r manifold right where the hole was suppose to be,looked stock when i was done with it,look on your b16 manifold around the bottom of the backside and see if there is a small flat spot.

Looks to be the map sensor on the 95 mani, can you take some more pics of it....

If it is your map sens. and your new motor does not have one jsut unbolt it and hook it to the firewall and run a vacum line.

NOT even close, its the evap purge solenoid,it circulates vaccum through the charcoal canister for fuel vapor.

If you are running a jdm ecu, then foget 'bout it. You wont need that sensor. But that is your evap purge control solenoid, as stated above.

im running the jdm b16 on a chipped p28. so would a tee work fine?

As you noted, this thing is not a "sensor" per se, but a control valve to control vacuum to the EVAP canister (an important part of emissions control). It is best to have this connected, as it DOES reduce emissions (we all want a clean environment, don't we).

If the p28 has EVAP purge control capability (I don't know myself, I haven't worked with a p28), a vacuum tee to the purge control solenoid will work fine, but just try to get it to the MANIFOLD rather than to the throttle body (I'm told, but don't know myself that this affects how well the canister purges - The vacuum at the throttle body is PRE-throttle plate, so it varies much closer to zero than the manifold vacuum does, but it doesn't seem to me that a higher vacuum would be necessary for sucking gas fumes out of a charcoal canister, but heck, what do I know?)
