this is somthing I drew up in paint this is what im talking about. it will be a littler bigger than the vent but it will cover it completely so you can then just run your wires right down the vent to where thewy need to go

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
That makes sense. thanks it was just a thought :) I have may gauges where my stereo use to go at the moment but I like what you did with yours

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
i would be ok with just 2 gauges and pitched towards the driver preferably.
but yes if i was to buy one i would want the face on it to actually hold the gauges. |
Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Thanks for the input guys. Its great to get your feedback! Im looking at doing a face like the Clock-Pod but with more angle on the rings. Also thinking about keeping the last two fins of the vent open under the gauges for air.
Your feedback is welcome and encouraged. Clock-Pod DC2 Integra (for reference) http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...ock-Pod2-1.jpg http://i192.photobucket.com/albums/z...-Poddriver.jpg |
Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
yes sir! angle those things towards the driver a bit more and you have a winner!
let me know when i can buy one:beer: |
Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
This is one of the tidiest gauge pod setups I've ever seen. I'm not 100% sure about blocking the vents. I find that my windshield doesn't defog very quickly in the morning unless I have that vent open. Otherwise, I keep it closed. I may try keeping it closed the next few mornings and see how things go. If I can live with the defrost times, I'd get this in a heart beat.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Vent the top of it. Cover it all.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Maybe a metal grate for the top portion to let air through but look solid?

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Holly crap! That is some nice work man. Wish I had the skills and creativity to pull that off. Good luck making a product out of it...

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
I'll let you know how the vent test goes. I forgot to test it the past few mornings.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
I didn't notice a huge difference in defog times this morning, so perhaps my misgivings about blocking that vent are misguided. Very interested in seeing the finished product.

That looks great! I like the new model alot more.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
from what i always understood is that vent was used to bring air to the back seet
|
Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Nice work.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Yeah that vet sucks! It would be more of a benifit to block it off so that way it will let the other vents have a more powerful output.

Hopefully I can get the face finished up the first of the week and take some installed pics. Stay tuned...

Pm me bro. I want one of those! Good work.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
thats some fine crafty skills you got there. Looks great. As already stated, that vent has been closed since 1999 on mine

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Looking great! Makes me wonder if anyone will come up with an aftermarket drink holder to replace the tiny and unusable one that came stock lol. No really, it looks great! You are really on to something.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Any progress? I'm chomping at the bit to get one of these.

Re: EG dual gauge Vent-Pod 92-95 Civic prototype with functional vent
Heres an idea? I love the way this looks, don't get me wrong. But instead of mounting the pod molding on top of the vent, why not take the vent out and have the gauges sit. Down inside it? Everyone already said they never use that vent, it wouldn't stick out, and the pods could angle slightly up and over to the drivers eye. Wouldnt stick out as much. Just a thought. And then build in a block off plate to close that vent.
