Please look everyone!
I just bought a y8 and I'm an obd0 ef guy so im a little confused on something. This motor has an electrical plug wiht 3 wires, coming off the motor inbetween the oil pan and block. Can anyone tell me what this is and if its only used by obd2 ecus or does obd1 also use it. Thanks.
Here is a little pic to help u understand. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...tch91/plug.bmp |
i used a Z6 harness on my Y7 block (94 hatchback)... and i just didnt plug that harness into anything and my car runs fine
so its just an obd2 sensor you do not need. i guess its the crank position sensor but i dont know doesnt matter anyways |
Re: (lazynok)
Its a crank fluctuation sensor....for OBD2 ecu's

It won't affect your performance but it needs to read info. to send back to your ECU. well I know i use it with obd0, but my main concern is now im swapping to obd1 and Im hoping I wont need to use it. OBD1 doesnt use that plug correct

correct! only obd2 ecu will look for it and throw a CEL if it's not pluged up. |
