d16 w/nitrous 1/4 mile time

I have a 98 EX coupe, full interior
my mods are:
intake
header
exhaust
12lb flywheel
exedy clutch
fpr@ 50psi
no p/s
no a/c
wet ZEX 75 shot
ZEX plugs
timing retarded 6 degrees
20-8-14 m/t slicks
cant think of anything else
my best time:
r/t .509
60' 2.084
330 5.853
1/8 9.002
mph 77.46
1000 11.754
1/4 14.092
mph 96.51

this was my best run of the day. I realy wanted a 13.9, and 2.08 was the best 60' I could pull, so does somebody have some sugestions of a quick mod that could take that .092 off, any sugestions would be appreciated.
thanks

You're running to much timing retard at -6, I would reduce that to at least -3 or -4 degrees retarded especially (but not necessarily) if you're running premium fuel with octane booster. Also your fuel pressure is set a little high at 50, I wouldn't set it any higher than 45psi MAX. Those simple changes should get you into the high 13's.

yeah I thought about those, but ive never been much of a gambler, and have never dyno tuned, so I kinda wanted to leave in conservative, maybe il get it to the dyno, and se if they can tune it properly. thanks for the reply.

Yes I would recomend you go to get it tuned at a dyno because you could probably still trim your fuel and timing settings even more than I suggested. To say that you were running conservative is an understatement!...lol My advice that I gave you was based off of my own tuning experiences, but I still left a little safety margin in there for ya https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif Good luck and great times you got there!

street sleeper 09-20-2004 09:09 PM

yeah im happy with the car, but its kinda like bragging rights to say your in the 13's

99skunkedSi 09-20-2004 09:11 PM

Re: (street sleeper)

true, hit the dyno and tune it and i'll bet you'll see 13's

street sleeper 09-20-2004 09:16 PM

I might have to do that, do any of you guys recomend any mods specificaly? plus I remembered I have a walbro 255lph fuel pump too.

You certainly don't need any mods to get you into the 13's and unless you plan on going boost at some point I'd sell that fuel pump as it's overkill for your car. If you really want more mods you won't have a problem finding them since you drive a civic but there aren't anything specific I'd tell you to get at the moment. Just add what you want when you want it and you'll be fine.

Re: d16 w/nitrous 1/4 mile time (street sleeper)

Try the dyno run and that should get you there. If not, get a new set of pulleys if youd don't already have them. It should add around 10 hp and 8lbs of tq. That'll get you in there.

i would say back the timing to -2 deg.
get rid of the zex plugs , maybe a ngk bkr73 gapped about .30
make sure to run premium
back the FP to about 42 line off

Re: d16 w/nitrous 1/4 mile time (Timmay)

If you work on your 60 Ft. that should get you there as well theres no reason you shouldn't be pulling low 1.90s with slicks atleast.

street sleeper 09-21-2004 06:03 AM
