cant get rid of code 22......

Code 22 for the vtec oil pressure sensor will not go away....Ive done everything wired vtec like 5 times (I know its right https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif ) tryed grounding the sensor a few different ways tried multiple p28s and still code 22...Is it possible that the oil pressure sensor itself is just shot? https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Yes, you can check it with an ohm meter.

It's a switch. It should be closed with the engine off and at idle. It should open as the RPMs increase.(as presure builds up)

should i Test it where the wire meets the ecu?

magicksdc2 08-03-2004 10:07 AM

same problem i have, ive rewired vtec at least twice, i have current and all my grounds are good. im just at a loss, sometimes the light will be off while im driving and then it will pop on at random times. im pretty sure the vtec actually works on my car... but still this code will not go away even after multiple ECU resets.

i was wondering if it could actually be a lack of oil pressure in my situation, because i know i have a valve cover gasket leak and im not sure how low my oil level has gotten. if it was actually low oil pressure, how would i go about diagnosing if i just need to change and fill up (along with replacing that gasket.. already have one im just lazy) or if there is an oil problem somewhere else?

sorry to jack ur thread, but its basically the same problem i have.

Disconnect the wires to it and check the switch itself first.

How do you diagnose a possible oil presure problem? Hook up an oil presure gauge. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

it was fine it was the vtec oil pressure sensor (the bottom plug on the solinod) that was bad
