BACK TO SCHOOL, car is much more 'appealing' to thieves, please help with anti-theft
Hey I'm going back to school (RIT, Rochester, NY) on the 23rd and over teh summer my car has become much more appealing to thieves (CF hood, rotas, etc).
So I am tryin to figure out what I can do to keep my baby safe while im at school. Here is what I have come up with thus far to protect her: 1. Wheel locks 2. Fuel Cutoff (secret secret) 3. Removable steering wheel 4. Alarm 6. LOCK GARAGE (car will be in raggedy garage next to house) 7. Alabama Toothpick (aka HUGE ass knife in case i wake up and someones screwin with her) The car wont be streetside, but I know that doesnt always stop thieves. I know im screwed if they got a tow, but lets say they dont, what else can i do to stay safe? Or is the above enough. |
all of ur options r good...personally i would garage it or get low jack
|
remove your ecu too, or better yet find a beater to drive to school and leave you pride and joy at home in the garage. Gl
|
try relocating the latch for your hood.

Re: (iijrzpnoyii)
if you arent driving it. put the stock rims, and hood on. only takes like 20-40 minutes, tops.
|
Re: (iijrzpnoyii)
Im not trying to go back to stock, im trying to ride like it is, but just keep it safe.

Seeing as how the garage is seperate from the house, I really could get like a doberman and keep it in the garage.... Any more ideas? |
Re: (turbotime)
Dogs are not mean by nature. It's assholes that make them mean and then regular people get a bad name by owning them.
The only advice I can give is....don't drive it much. I know alot of 'old timers' with hot rods and that is their secret. If someone doesn't know you have it, they can't steal it. But seriously....just search next time because this has been covered alot in every forum. |
Re: (turbotime)
When you park it anywhere outside of a garage, a car cover works great. It keeps the casual observer unaware of what's under it.

Re: (iijrzpnoyii)
OMG!! I just got a great idea. HAHAHAHA wire up a real kill switch.
Take a regular switch with 3 prongs (power, ground, acc). Put the acc wire into the gastank https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif . When the power is hooked up to something that has power when the car is started, and the switch is on the car should blow up. Oh yeah,.......I AM JOKING...DO NOT DO THAT BECAUSE I WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU TAKE ME SERIOUS. |

Its not my idea of anti-theft but is becoming more common.
Booby traps.... just remember where you put them! https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=857150 |

damn how? |
so whats your actual question. it's a little unclear to me.
1. You are going away to school and your car is going to be left @ your parents house in a garage? 2. You are taking it with you and are worried it's in a high theft area? |

get your self a GOOD alarm and a kill switch.
also, remove the ecu and cover it so they wont know. |

one way is to not tell people what school your going to and when you are starting.

Re: BACK TO SCHOOL, car is much more 'appealing' to thieves, please help with anti-theft (turbotime)
1. Don't publicize your information.
2. Don't park it on the street. 3. Don't go showing it off. Remember, a car is just a car, if they really want to steal it, they'll get it no matter what. They'll pull it onto a flatbed and it wouldn't matter what you have. Layers of security/protection does the job for most thieves, but if they're really determined, it won't matter. I had a Type R while I was in school for some time. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif For never having any problems with it while in school https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif for losing it to deer. oh well http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif looking at my situation now, i would have ended up selling it after seeing the last insurance quote i had with it anyway. |
