B18c5 w/159whp?

Ok so i've done a lot of searching about ecu's, b18c5's and stock type r 1/4 mile times, and i've come to the conclusion that something isn't right with my car.

from what i've seen some people in here doing with their type r's/b18c5 setup, they're getting about 170-180hp to the wheels and are running some where between 13.8-14.3's with just I/H/E and some R compound tires.

here's my problem I'm getting 159.5hp and 117tq to the wheels and, I'm running a 15.2 in the 1/4. It was consistantly running 15.2's with a 2.1 60ft. but i have a b16 ECU out of a 00 SI.

My setup is:
b18c5 in 99 EJ6
clutch masters stage 2
ACT 8lb flywheel
MSD
AEM short ram
stock type r rims with kumho MX tires
DC header, test pipe, and cat back

the motor is in good condition but I think my main problem is the b16 ecu that I'm using? I dont have any idea on ECU's so anything with that would help too and concerning my setup.

thanks alot guys

Yes, the ECU is almost certainly your problem.

That being said, 160 whp is not unheard of from a essentially stock C5.

Yeah your ECU is definitly the culprit. Get a stock ITR ECU or get a chipped P28 and tune it.

So then what would be the best means of getting it back to origianl type r status because the I'm clueless about ECU modifacation? pretty much all I know is that upgrading the ECU is a good thing. But I've been looking at the hondata s300 and it looks good but I dont really know which one would be best in the long run because eventually i plan on boosting my motor.

i thought the stock ITR ecu's wont work with a swap like this?

It will, you'd just need to remove the immobilizer or get a conversion harness, depending upon which ITR ECU you are using. You can also get an OBD-1 ECU and chip it, which would allow you to tune to your specific setup. This would also require a conversion harness, as well as tuning hardware/software.

where would the imobilizer be at? because my older brother just got AEM's EMS for his 00 Type R so i might be able to use his stock one?

only 00-01 ITR ecus have immobilizers, and when disabled you get a CEL, try to find a OBD2A 98 ITR ecu and use a conversion harness (OBD2B->A), this will also allow you to pass emissions with no problems

no emission here https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif so i'm not worried in the least bit about that. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif but will the CEL make it run in limp mode? and how do i recieve PM's??

ballerchild 01-25-2007 10:38 AM

go to kenji or phearable and get a chipped ecu for your exact setup and also get a obd2b->obd1 conversion harness

Re: (ballerchild)

yea i've been on phearable's site and it looked pretty good for the price and i just don't know about that other one i haven't seen anything of his and phearable comes with the conversion harness right?

try kenji211.com
His setups are just as good as phearable
and, NO, they don't come with the harness, you're gonna need to buy that seperately from the ECU.

da_dude 01-25-2007 10:52 AM

Just get a chip p28 ecu with the coversion harness and tune it.

Turn off your popup blocker or go to the top right side of the window "My profile" then "Instant Message history" and look for the person that PM'd you
