b17a1?
ok yet agin i have another question. i've come across a b17a1 motor for sale with a jdm b16 s1 trany, and i can't find anything on the b17a1 motor and for some reason my computer wont let me go to google. will this motor fit in my 94 civic and how much of a pain is it to do the swap? is it a good swap to do?

Re: b17a1? (josh94civic)
Here are the Specs for you... I have no clue if this will fit a 94 civ... from what I can see on the forums, it is possible but I am not sure what you'll need.
Acura B17A1 Engine JDM Displacement (cc): 1678 Power (bhp@rpm): 160 @ 7,600 rpm Torque (ft/lbs@rpm): 117 @ 7,000 rpm Compression Ratio: 9.7:1 Bore (mm): 81 Stroke (mm): 81.4 Cam Design: DOHC Valvetrain: VTEC |
if anyone can help me with weither it will fit in my civic or not i would appreciate it greatly. i mean it's a great deal it's the b17a1 gsr motor out of a 92 integra with bored .25mm over oversized ctr pistons, jdm itr head port and polished, all new b17 rods, new crankshaft, all new seals and headgasket, northodox racing pulley, ebay headers, throttle body spacer, jdm b16 s1 tranny with stage 2 clutch and lsd. all of the cvaxles and motor mounts computer and all for the swap.

The B17A1 is basically a stroked B16A. The S1 is a cable tranny. Find a mount setup for putting a B16 with a cable tranny into your car and you'll be okay.
|
any b-series motor will fit except the b20 from the 3rd gen prelude. make sure you get a hydro transmission unless you want to switch to a cable clutch.

Re: (Kendall)
will it drop right in though? or is it a hard swap?
|
Re: (MiMiK)
im sorry but whats a hydro trans?
|
it's easy. i did a swap in my backyard with basic hand tools. but i'm pretty mechanically inclined
|
hydraulic transmission... out of a 92+ civic and 94+ integra w/ a b-series.

damn beat me to it lol. its a easy swap. with a little searching and mechanical skills you can do it. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
so it should bolt right in for the most part? someone told me something about one of motor mounts not fiting in the right spot? but idk.

i have a b17 :D

Re: b17a1?
B17 was from the 3rd gen Integra GSR. As said, it's a stroked B16 with a special crank, rods, pistons for just that engine. The block and head are normal B16 parts.
Mechanically it's bolt in, electrical you may need to get a distributor to match your generation of car (obd1 for 92-95 for example). Injectors you may need to check on. |
Re: b17a1?
the first gen gsr is obd1. dizzy will be plug and play. wire up vtec and i believe a knock sensor and you're good to go.
a hydraulic clutch is similar to hydraulic brakes in it uses a hydraulic piston with a reservoir full of brake fluid to move the clutch arm vs a cable clutch which like a motor cycle uses a a mechanical cable that attatches to the transmission from the clutch pedal. while the motor is special, the swap is not any different from any other b series swap |

Re: b17a1?
it would be a waste to convert a car from hydro to cable... just get an LS or Gsr hydro trans
