99/00 Civic Si Read Disc Conversion into 99 EX Checklist
I've been looking everywhere for a guide or checklist of everything i need off a 99-00 Civic Si to complete a rear disc conversion on my 1999 Honda Civic Ex Coupe..so far no luck..if anyone can post a link to one maybe from Honda-Tech or something it would be greatly appreciated.
I am getting the kit locally for a good price and it comes with the following below is a list of everything that comes with it. No Brake lines and its missing a bracket...is it worth getting steel braided lines or stick with oem? if i am missing anything else please list Check List control arms hub assemblys calipers oem rotors e-brake cables Missing it is missing one braket that attaches the caliper to the brake line. how much does this bracket usually run? brake lines I believe i need a 99-00 SI Proportioning valve |
oem soft lines are good enough...

Oh man, search "rear disc conversion"... someone wrote an entire guide with nice graphs and everything on how to upgrade front brakes, and another on rear...

Depends on the cost, and what you want. Rubber lines for just the rear might run you $35-40, sufficient for most. A set of Steel Braided Lines are around $120 for all 4 corners. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civek9 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> Check List Trailing Arms -- Hub/Bearing Assemblies -- Calipers & Pads -- OEM Rotors E-Brake Cables </TD></TR></TABLE> There's more to doing this conversion than just the parts... I've been finding that out for the last 10 months. A lot of it will depend on the condition of the entire *Trailing Arm Assembly*, and what you need to get it working right... Have you seen these actual parts in person, or will you have the ability to look at them before you buy? I've seen some pretty crappy assemblies, and if you want your shit to be tight, and not just do it to have it, then you need to realize how much more work you might have to do and how much more you might have to buy (HARDWARE!!!! MUUUHUUUHUHHHHAHAHAHAHHAAHAAAAAA!!!)... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civek9 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">it is missing one braket that attaches the caliper to the brake line. how much does this bracket usually run?</TD></TR></TABLE> http://slhondaparts.com/browse...=true Some people have run without this bracket... I think you're talking about #1 or 2... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by civek9 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote"> I believe i need a 99-00 SI Proportioning valve</TD></TR></TABLE> There's a lot of debate on this one. Do a search on the prop valve and draw your own conclusion. Keep us in the loop, and GL! Re: (civek9)
I did a write-up on the PN Differences between the 99-00 2DR EX (MT, non-ABS) and the 99-00 2DR SI...
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1625394 It lists the OEM Part Numbers and their differences for every Brake Component (or provides links). In the least, it provides the OEM PNs for the EM1 if you've got some other 96-00 Civic. Hope it helps! JasonGhostz |
