Window tints
Numerous questions:
What's the "typical" tint most are using?
Same for front windows and rear? (I have a sedan)
Had any problems with crossing state lines? (I live in OH but travel a lot to WNY)
Any tips/advise from experiences you've had?

I guess it depends on how legal you want to drive around and the look you want for your car
i have 20% in front and 10% in the rears, can't even tell the different unless lots of sun is shinning on the windows then you can see through the fronts more..to be safe you can check what the legal tint is and do that, or do what i do and put the front windows down each time a cop passes by

I had 20% all around, with a 5% windshield banner, on my '08 Si coupe. It was a little dark at night, but awesome during the day. Even though the legal limit for front side windows is 35% here, I never got hassled for it. It just depends on your area.

Here is a link to what the laws are state to state. You front windows can't be more than 50%, the backs don't have a limit it appears. As long as your tint is legal in the state where your car is registered than other states that you travel to can not right you a ticket regardless of their laws.

Mine tint is legal in FL but I have been given crap in other states. It is a good idea to have a copy of what I linked just so you can show a cop if you had too. I have 25% up front and 15 in the back.

In Michigan, the top 4" of the windshield and two front windows can be tinted, and 35% on all the other windows but cops don't really enforce the back windows.
I bought my car with the stock blue-ish strip on the windshield, Limo or 5% on the back, 35% on the rear quarter windows, and 50% on the fronts. Never got pulled over because of the tint specifically but one cop said I took a corner a little fast, didn't have my headlights on (parking lights were on and it was like 7:30, the street lights weren't even on) and also my tint. Never got a ticket for it though, maybe because my car is black and with the tint they expect somebody else driving and once they get to the car they see an innocent looking kid driving lol

Darkness of tint is measured by Visible Light Transmission percentage (VLT%). In Ohio, this percentage refers to percentage of visible light allowed in through the combination of film and the window.
50% tint is illegal in Ohio.
20% rear 35% front
