I had the charger light come on my dash board blinking on and off. I took it into Honda and they came back saying I needed a new alternator and battery (total cost of around $715 w/ taxes and labour) Does that sound high? 2002 Honda Civic Automatic

$715 for a battery and alt install? WTF. NO WAY is that a fair price, even with parts include.

 

Don't forget it's in Canadian Dollars. Dealerships up here have their labour rates above $100. Not sure what its like in America.

 

$715 canadian is $678 u.s... and they charge $80 in North Carolina

$551.53 for a new alternator.

idk why anyone would pay 551 for a 80 amp alternator...

 

The battery was $86.82 and the alternator was $346.93 and labour was $200.25 all new parts.
