This is my girlfriends civic. Just started it after months of sitting in the driveway. Near the alternator and power steering there is a hum the gets progressively louder with higher rpm. Any ideas on what it is?

 

Anything connected to the drive belts or timing belt could be suspect. Process of elimination by removing the 2 accessory belts one at a time. Could be bad compressor, timing belt tensioner/pulley, bad power steering pump, bad alternator, low engine oil or valve adjustment needed.
