02 Civic dash lights and lights-on chime won't work after new stereo install

Hi, all. First time poster, relatively new to automotive DIY although I do have some experience with motorcycles....

Anyway, I'm resurrecting this thread because it's the closest thing I've been able to find to an answer for the issue with my 2002 Honda Civic.

Here's what I know: Like the OP, I too replaced the stock radio with an aftermarket radio (also a pioneer deck) The original factory radio was stolen but the wiring harness was mainly intact except for two orange wires which looked to be cut. Everything worked in the car until I put in the "new" radio the other day (It is a used deck donated by a co-worker). The two harnesses snapped together and everything seemed to be A-Okay until my commute to work the morning after, when I realized that the backing lights to the tach/speedo/fuel gauge weren't working. Not sure about the rear lights, I know that the brake lights and reverse lights work but not sure if the running lights are on or not I'll have to check.

Also, like the original poster, the high pitched beep letting you know that you've left the headlights on is disabled...

I too had checked all of the fuses under the steering column and they looked to be in good shape, but hadn't thought to test with a test light until reading this thread.

So my issue now is, after consulting the driver's manual for the '02 Civic, there is no fuse #30 listed. Can anyone tell me what the appropriate fuse to check would be on the '02 model?

Thanks in advance for any information.

There is no fuse 30 because you're in the wrong section, reading up on a solution not meant for your car.

The people who frequent the EM2 section might be able to help you out, though. While you're looking at your service manual, look for the fuse labeled "Dash lights, option (dash lights)" or similar.

What did you do with or about the orange wire that was cut? Did you just leave it that way, or did you at least twist it and tape it? Got any pictures of the hack-job?

Was the battery disconnected before you started this installation? If not, that's why the fuse is blown. If you did, then I suspect a short.

As for the fuse box information, there is a link in the FAQ's for it. See below...
